Obverse description Central field displays a multi-line Arabic inscription within a rectangular frame bordered by a row of pellets, bearing the royal titulature of the Ayyubid sultan al-Malik al-Kamil Nasir al-Dunya wa al-Din Muhammad ibn Abi Bakr. A horizontal line divides the central field from a lower register containing an abbreviated mint or date element. The surrounding marginal legend, rendered in fine Naskhi script, records the mint name of Damascus and the Hijri year of striking. The coin's irregular flan, characteristic of Ayyubid hammered silver production, is bounded by a dotted border with cursive Arabic flowing continuously around the circumference.
