A horizontal line divides the central field from a lower register containing an abbreviated mint or date element. The surrounding marginal legend, rendered in fine Naskhi script, records the mint name of Damascus and the Hijri year of striking. The coin's irregular flan, characteristic of Ayyubid hammered silver production, is bounded by a dotted border with cursive Arabic flowing continuously around the circumference.
