Reverse description An eagle displayed in flight to the left, grasping a serpent in its beak, depicted in a bold and schematic archaic style. The entire design is set within a recessed incuse square, characteristic of early Thracian and Greek coinage of the fifth century BC. The field within the incuse square is plain, focusing attention on the eagle-and-serpent motif.
