| Beschrijving keerzijde | A quadripartite incuse square dominates the reverse, produced by the punch of the anvil die and divided into four triangular sections by raised diagonal ridges meeting at a central point, creating alternating raised and sunken compartments. This mill-sail or windmill incuse pattern is characteristic of archaic coinage from the Thraco-Macedonian region, serving as the mechanical countermark of the hammer blow used to strike the flan. The square is deeply recessed into the flat reverse field, with sharp, well-defined borders, and no inscription or additional device is present. |
