Obverse description A cow rendered in profile advancing to right, its head turned back to sinister in a characteristic retrograde posture typical of early Thraco-Macedonian coinage. The animal is depicted with sturdy, naturalistically modelled forequarters and haunches, the tail raised. The design occupies the full flan in archaic style, with no legend or exergual line, the rough granular field providing a textured backdrop to the boldly struck bovine figure.

Reverse description A quadripartite incuse square dominates the reverse, produced by the punch of the anvil die and divided into four triangular sections by raised diagonal ridges meeting at a central point, creating alternating raised and sunken compartments. This mill-sail or windmill incuse pattern is characteristic of archaic coinage from the Thraco-Macedonian region, serving as the mechanical countermark of the hammer blow used to strike the flan. The square is deeply recessed into the flat reverse field, with sharp, well-defined borders, and no inscription or additional device is present.
