Ialysos was one of the three ancient Doric cities of Rhodes — alongside Kameiros and Lindos — that operated as independent poleis before the synoikism of 408 BC unified them under the newly founded city of Rhodes. That political merger effectively ended autonomous coinage at Ialysos, which makes issues from this mint products of a narrowing window.
