Beschrijving voorzijde Helmeted head of Athena facing right, rendered in fine Classical style with delicately modelled features. The goddess wears an Attic helmet whose bowl is adorned with a prominent Scylla figure in high relief at the crest, the mythological sea-monster depicted with characteristic serpentine lower body. Loose curling locks of hair escape from beneath the helmet cheek-pieces and fall along the neck. The portrait displays the accomplished artistry characteristic of the finest South Italian mint engravers of the early fourth century BC.

Beschrijving keerzijde A powerful bull charging and butting to the right, rendered with exceptional vigour and anatomical precision in high relief, its lowered head turned frontally to face the viewer. The animal's musculature is finely articulated, with the forelegs bent as it lunges forward. A dotted exergual line separates the main field from the exergue below, within which a fish is depicted in profile facing left, serving as a symbol of the city's coastal identity. The Greek ethnic legend ΘΟΥΡΙΩΝ curves along the upper field, identifying the issuing polis of Thourioi.
