| 表面の説明 | Helmeted head of Athena facing right, rendered in fine Classical style with delicately modelled features. The goddess wears an Attic helmet whose bowl is adorned with a prominent Scylla figure in high relief at the crest, the mythological sea-monster depicted with characteristic serpentine lower body. Loose curling locks of hair escape from beneath the helmet cheek-pieces and fall along the neck. The portrait displays the accomplished artistry characteristic of the finest South Italian mint engravers of the early fourth century BC. |

The animal's musculature is finely articulated, with the forelegs bent as it lunges forward. A dotted exergual line separates the main field from the exergue below, within which a fish is depicted in profile facing left, serving as a symbol of the city's coastal identity. The Greek ethnic legend ΘΟΥΡΙΩΝ curves along the upper field, identifying the issuing polis of Thourioi. |
