| Beschrijving voorzijde | Facing bust of King Alfonso VIII shown in three-quarter view turned to the left, rendered in a stylised Romanesque manner typical of Castilian medieval coinage. The royal figure is depicted with a diademed or crownlet head, short wavy hair visible at the sides, and a draped bust with a simple collar or neckline visible below. The effigy is contained within a plain inner circle, surrounded by the retrograde or partially legible Latin legend in the outer field. The overall execution is characteristic of the hammered billon dineros of the Toledo mint, with an irregular flan and bold, if somewhat crude, die work. |

| Beschrijving keerzijde | A bold Greek cross with equal arms fills the central field, enclosed within a plain inner circle and an outer beaded border. Small six-pointed stars are placed in the first and fourth quarters formed by the arms of the cross, while the second and third quarters are left plain or bear faint pellet ornaments. The reverse legend runs continuously around the outer circle between the two borders. The design is crisp and symmetrical within the constraints of the hammered technique, and is the standard reverse type associated with the Toledo mint dineros of Alfonso VIII. |
