| Beschrijving keerzijde | Central square cartouche filled with multiple horizontal lines of Arabic inscriptions in Naskh script, comprising Quranic phrases, the Basmala, and references to the ruling sultan Abu Ya'qub Yusuf. Marginal legends in Arabic script encircle the square on all four sides within the inner border, with a further inscription band running along the outer beaded rim of the flan. The lower portion of the field contains a decorative element or additional textual line. The composition adheres strictly to the aniconic Marinid tradition, presenting a densely calligraphic surface characteristic of western Islamic gold coinage of the late 13th and early 14th centuries. |
