Dinar - Stefan Uroš I

Stefan Uroš I consolidated Serbian silver coinage on the back of the Brskovo mines in the Lim valley, one of the most productive sources of raw silver in thirteenth-century Europe. Ragusan merchants handled much of the distribution, embedding Serbian dinars into Adriatic trade networks far beyond the Balkans. The type was closely modeled on Venetian grossi circulating through those same channels.
