Opis awersu	Central field occupied by four lines of Arabic legend in bold naskh script, reading the Shahada and a mint-and-date formula: 'In the name of God, this dinar was struck in al-Qahira in the year six hundred and forty-eight.' The inscriptions are arranged horizontally within a double circular border of braided or rope-pattern design. The outer margin carries a continuous Quranic or honorific marginal legend in smaller naskh script. The flan is irregular, characteristic of hand-hammered medieval Islamic gold coinage, with the relief lettering sharply struck at the centre.
