The inscriptions are arranged horizontally within a double circular border of braided or rope-pattern design. The outer margin carries a continuous Quranic or honorific marginal legend in smaller naskh script. The flan is irregular, characteristic of hand-hammered medieval Islamic gold coinage, with the relief lettering sharply struck at the centre. |
