The Hindu Shahis produced bull-and-horseman dinars in such quantities over such a long period that precise attribution remains genuinely contested — scholars still argue over which rulers issued which types, and the Samanta Deva attribution itself carries uncertainty. That commercial desirability, combined with a type whose stylistic variation provides natural cover, made these coins targets for modern fabrication. Gold forgeries of this series circulate with some frequency in the trade.
