Inscriptional Pahlavi legends appear in the field to the left and right of the effigy, identifying the ruler. The portrait is executed in the bold, highly stylized relief characteristic of late Sasanian hammered gold coinage. |

The king is shown in a long belted robe with articulated folds, holding objects in each hand consistent with royal insignia. Rosette or floral shoulder ornaments flank the figure at either side. A beaded border encircles the design, with Inscriptional Pahlavi legends filling the field to the left and right of the standing figure, recording the ruler's name and titles. The reverse type follows the distinctive full-figure royal portrait tradition of Khusru II's gold coinage, distinguishing these dinars from the fire-altar reverses typical of Sasanian silver drachms. |
