The central legend is enclosed within a single circular line border, surrounded by a continuous marginal legend carrying the Quranic verse from Surah al-Tawbah (9:33) in Kufic script. The outer border is defined by a dotted or granulated rim following the irregular flan edge. The entire design is executed in raised relief against a flat field, characteristic of late 8th-century Abbasid hammered gold coinage. |
