| Beschrijving voorzijde | Hammered gold dinar with an irregular flan, the central field bearing a multi-line Arabic Kufic-style inscription arranged in horizontal registers reading the Shahada and the Shia affirmation of 'Ali as the chosen one of God. The field inscription occupies the majority of the coin's surface and reads: 'la ilah illa allah / muhammad rasul allah / 'ali wali allah'. A marginal legend encircles the field, containing a Quranic verse (Quran 9:33) referencing divine guidance and the supremacy of the true religion. The script is angular and densely packed, characteristic of Nizari Ismaili coinage of the Alamut period. |
