Obverse description Central field occupied by a multi-line Arabic religious inscription arranged in three horizontal registers within a plain inner circle, following the classic Abbasid dinar format. The inscription in the central area contains the Shahada and related formulae in angular Kufic script. A circular marginal legend in Arabic Kufic script runs around the inner circle, separated by a plain border from a further outer marginal band of inscription. The flan is irregular and slightly convex, characteristic of Andalusian hammered gold coinage of the taifa period.
