| Obverse description | Central square frame enclosing multiple lines of Arabic religious and dynastic legend in highly stylized Kufic-influenced script. The field within the square is densely inscribed with the Almohad profession of faith and the ruler's titulature. A further marginal legend in cursive Arabic script runs around the circular border outside the square, framed by an outer beaded border. The entire design is characteristic of the distinctive Almohad square-in-circle coinage format. |
