Jordan's half-dinar denomination was introduced under the Currency Board before the Central Bank formally took over note issuance, and the 1967–1973 series represents one of the first sets issued entirely under the bank's own authority. The timing matters: 1967 was the year of the Six-Day War, which cost Jordan the West Bank and triggered a severe economic shock. Notes issued in that window circulated under extraordinary pressure, with the dinar's convertibility repeatedly tested against capital flight.
Thomas De La Rue printed the entire series to a high security specification for the period, though the single watermark remains the only machine-detectable security feature — modest by later Jordanian standards.
