正面描述 Draped bust of a female divinity facing right, her elaborately dressed hair bound with a tainia rendered in fine detail, with thick curling locks framing the face and cascading over the nape of the neck. The portrait is executed in a high-relief Hellenistic style, with delicate facial features including a slightly parted mouth, a straight nose, and a softly modeled chin. The field is smooth and unadorned, with no legend present on this side. The overall artistic quality reflects the refined engraving tradition of the Cycladic island mints in the late Hellenistic period.

附加信息

Paros had been a significant Aegean mint in the Classical period but struck relatively little coinage by the Hellenistic era. This didrachm, dated to the early second century BC, falls within a period when the island was navigating the competing pressures of Macedonian decline and expanding Roman influence in the Aegean — the same decades that saw Rhodes and other island powers attempt to assert commercial independence before Rome's shadow rendered such ambitions moot. The type is sparsely represented in major collections; its appearance across HGC, SNG Fitzwilliam, and SNG Berry without cross-referencing a large die corpus suggests a limited and possibly short-lived emission.
