Reverse description A crab rendered frontally in high relief, depicted with symmetrical claws extended outward and legs splayed to either side, occupying the full width of a broad shallow incuse circle. The carapace is boldly modelled with careful attention to the anatomical articulation of the chelae and walking legs. The design is set within a plain incuse square characteristic of early Sicilian hammered coinage, with no lettering present on this side.
