Obverse description A scarab beetle rendered in high relief, depicted in dorsal view with the prominent convex pronotum and elytra dominating the central field. The legs are articulated on either side of the body, and the cephalic region with its characteristic clypeus is visible at the top. The naturalistic yet stylized treatment of the insect reflects the archaic Athenian die-cutter's familiarity with Egyptian iconographic traditions. The flan is broad and irregular, with the beetle occupying the majority of the convex surface. No legend or inscription is present.
