Obverse description Bearded male head of Artaxias I facing right, wearing an Armenian tiara; the portrait rendered in a Hellenistic style with coarse but expressive die-cutting. The field is largely plain, with the design occupying the central area of the flan. The coin exhibits the characteristic irregular planchet typical of early Armenian bronze coinage. Greek legend surrounds the effigy along the periphery of the coin.
