| Reverse description | A nude horseman gallops to the right, seated dynamically upon a horse shown at full stride with all four legs extended, conveying vigorous motion. The rider holds the reins and leans slightly forward in the characteristic Thessalian equestrian convention, a motif long associated with the horse-breeding communities of the Thessalian plain. A small circular or pellet control mark appears above the horse. In the lower exergual area, the ethnic legend ΑΛΕΩΝ is inscribed in Greek characters, identifying the issuing community of Halos. The reverse type reflects the strong equestrian cultural identity of Thessaly during the Hellenistic period. |
