Dichalkon

Gyrton was a minor Thessalian city on the Peneios River, and its independent bronze coinage is sparse enough that the entire known output fits comfortably within a handful of reference numbers. The BCD collection provided the most coherent sequence for attributing these issues, with Syd Noe's earlier work superseded almost entirely by the BCD Thessaly sales of 2006 and 2011.

The city later lost autonomy under Macedonian reorganization of Thessaly following Philip II's consolidation of the region in the 340s — placing this issue right at the threshold of that political absorption.
