Obverse description Central field occupied by four small crosses arranged in a cruciform pattern, their arms touching or nearly touching, enclosed within a beaded inner circle. A small annelet or pellet may appear between the crosses depending on the variety. The surrounding legend reads ✠ GLVILILMO (William), rendered in rustic Latin capitals, contained between the beaded inner circle and the plain outer rim of the coin.

Obverse lettering ✠ GLVILILMO
(Translation: William.)
Reverse description A bold cross pattée occupies the central field, its flared arms extending to a beaded inner circle that divides the design from the surrounding legend. The inscription ✠ BVRDEGIILΛ (Bordeaux), struck in rough Latin capitals, runs between the beaded circle and the coin's irregular outer edge, identifying the Bordeaux mint. The overall style is typical of Aquitainian feudal coinage of the early twelfth century.
