The entire design is characteristic of the crude hammered workmanship typical of early 13th-century French royal billon coinage. |

| 裏面の説明 | A stylised chatel tournois (castle of Tours) depicted frontally at centre, consisting of a rectangular tower with crenellated battlements and three pellets arranged within the body of the structure, flanked by lateral walls with turrets. The design is enclosed within a plain inner circle, with the Latin legend SCS MARTINVS disposed around the periphery between the inner circle and the beaded outer border, preceded by a cross pattee. The reverse type invokes Saint Martin of Tours, the patron saint of the abbey of Saint-Martin de Tours, from whose monetary tradition the tournois coinage derives. |
