| Reverse description | The reverse presents a stylised châtel tournois (castle), depicting a turreted tower set upon a platform with three arched openings, rendered in the conventional Capetian-derived denier tournois style. The central tower is flanked by lateral turrets, and the design is contained within a beaded inner circle. Depending on the variety, a small triangle (point or without point) appears above the châtel, and additional marks such as annulets, chevrons, or lozenges may flank the tower. The surrounding circular legend reads BRITANNORVM, introduced by a cross pommée, identifying the issuing authority as Duke of the Bretons. |
