Aanvullende informatie

Stephen II inherited the throne as a minor following his father Coloman's death in 1116, and his reign was marked by continuous military conflict — wars against Byzantium, Venice, and Bohemia that strained royal finances severely. Hungarian royal deniers of this period were struck in massive quantities to fund campaigns but at progressively declining silver content, making any example retaining full weight noteworthy. The reign ended in 1131 with Stephen dying childless, triggering a succession crisis that brought Béla II to power after a period of violent aristocratic purging.
