Descrizione del dritto	Frontal effigy of the ruler in Byzantine imperial style, depicted wearing a crown and the loros, the ceremonial imperial vestment. In his right hand he holds a cross-sceptre, while his left hand bears a globus cruciger, emblems of Christian sovereign authority. The bust is rendered in a schematic, flat manner characteristic of Crusader billon coinage of the late twelfth century. The flan is irregular and the strike weak, as is typical of contemporary hammered issues from the Latin East.

Descrizione del rovescio	A plain cross divides the field into four quadrants, each containing a letter from the royal title, with the letters R, E, and X distributed at the terminals of the cross arms. The cross is set upon a stepped base consisting of a single step, a motif common to Crusader deniers of the period. A beaded border encircles the entire design, framing the composition within the irregular hammered flan.
