| Reverse description | Central field divided by a horizontal bar into two registers, each containing bold Latin lettering in Carolingian uncial style. The upper register displays the letters SCI and the lower register displays GRNI, together forming the abbreviated dedication inscription to Saint Germanus. The letters are rendered in high relief with a somewhat rustic, hand-engraved quality characteristic of ecclesiastical mint production under Carolingian authority. The entire design is enclosed within a beaded border of pellets consistent with the obverse. The flan shows slight irregularity typical of eighth-century hammered silver issues. |
