| Beschrijving voorzijde | Central field dominated by a large, bold monogram formed by the letter R with a horizontal bar above, flanked on the left by a vertical column of four pellets arranged in pairs, and a single pellet to the right. The monogram is rendered in high relief in the crude but vigorous hammered style characteristic of early Carolingian coinage. The irregular flan edge shows the typical characteristics of hand-cut planchet preparation of the period. |
