| Descrizione del dritto | Central field features a plain cross with a small pellet at its centre, the four quadrants each containing a six-pointed star or rosette. The cross is enclosed within a plain inner circle surrounded by a beaded border. The surrounding outer field displays a continuous series of crescent or scroll ornaments arranged around the periphery, with small crosses visible at the top and bottom of the outer border, typical of Styrian bracteate-related Pfennig coinage of the late 12th century. |

Otakar IV ruled Styria through a period of intense rivalry between the Babenbergs and the Styrian margraves, ultimately resolving it himself: in 1186 he signed the Georgenberger Handfeste, a hereditary treaty ceding Styria to the Babenberg Duke Leopold V upon his death. He died in 1192, childless, and the duchy passed exactly as arranged. This coin predates that agreement and circulated under a ruler who knew his dynasty was ending.
