| Beschrijving keerzijde | A bold pattée-style cross with slightly splayed arms occupies the central field, dividing the coin into four quarters. In two diagonally opposite angles appear the letter S, and in the remaining two angles crescent symbols each adorned with a central pellet. A circular outer legend in uncial characters reads SIMON ME FECIT, attributing the striking of the coin to a moneyer named Simon. The overall design is consistent with feudal French deniers of the mid-to-late 12th century, with characteristic bold strokes and irregular hammer-struck flan. |
