正面描述	Within a beaded inner circle, the retrograde monogram TOR occupies the central field, composed of interlaced letters in the Carolingian monogram tradition. The surrounding legend reads LVDOVVICVS IMP, identifying the issuer as Louis, Emperor, and runs clockwise between the inner beaded circle and the outer border of the flan. The lettering is rendered in a bold, somewhat irregular Carolingian majuscule typical of early tenth-century hammered coinage. The flan is irregular in shape, characteristic of hand-struck deniers of this period.
