| Opis rewersu | The reverse field is entirely occupied by a multi-line stacked inscription giving the name and title of Empress Angelberga, arranged in horizontal registers across the coin's surface with no central device. The lettering is rendered in the characteristic irregular, angular Beneventan hand of the period, with letters filling the available space in a manner typical of southern Italian Carolingian deniers. A surrounding circular legend completes the epigraphic composition. The inscription records Angelberga's imperial dignity as consort of Louis II, making this coin a rare example of a jointly-issued Carolingian issue commemorating both emperor and empress. |
