Beschrijving voorzijde	Struck in hammered silver, the obverse presents a central Latin cross within a beaded inner circle, around which the imperial legend HLVDOVVICVS IMP is arranged in the surrounding annular field. The lettering, executed in bold Carolingian capitals, reads clockwise and is enclosed between an inner beaded ring and an outer beaded border. The overall design is characteristic of the Temple/Cross type coinage of Louis the Pious, emphasizing religious authority through the prominent cross motif. The flan is irregular in outline, as typical of hand-struck medieval issues, and the relief is moderately strong throughout.
