| 背面描述 | A long cross extending to the inner beaded circle divides the field into four quarters, with an annulet placed in the first and fourth angles and three bezants (pellets arranged in triangular formation) occupying the second and third angles. The peripheral legend BAQINONA, a medieval rendering of Barcelona, is contained between two concentric beaded circles. The cross design is characteristic of the Barcelona denier series, providing a bold geometric focal point on the reverse field. |

James II ruled Catalonia while simultaneously holding the Crown of Aragon and, briefly, Sicily — a dynastic juggling act that produced near-constant political negotiation with Rome and rival Iberian powers. The Barcelona mint operated under strict comtal then royal oversight, and billon coinage of this type circulated heavily through Catalonian markets well into the fourteenth century, surviving in worn condition far more often than not. The low silver content was not degradation but deliberate policy, maintaining continuity with earlier comtal issues.
