Reverse description A plain Greek-style cross pattée occupies the central field, with each arm terminating near the inner legend border. The cross is boldly struck in high relief, with small wedge-shaped ornaments visible in the angles between the arms. A circular legend surrounds the cross, reading SCI STEPHANI (of Saint Stephen), referencing the Cathedral of Saint-Étienne in Arles, introduced by a cross. The overall strike is characteristic of 10th-century feudal episcopal coinage from Provence.
