Obverse description Central field occupied by a large imperial H monogram, composed of bold interlocking letters in a Carolingian style characteristic of Holy Roman Imperial coinage struck at Lucca. The monogram is enclosed within a beaded inner circle, with the surrounding annular legend reading H IMPERATOR in Roman capitals, invoking the imperial title of the Henrician rulers. The overall design is executed in low relief typical of hammered billon deniers of the period, with irregular flan edges. Individual letter elements of the monogram are clearly separated and geometrically rendered.
