Henri VI ruled Luxembourg during a period when the county was threading carefully between the competing pressures of the French crown and the Holy Roman Empire. His floret-type deniers draw directly from the French feudal denier tradition, a deliberate monetary alignment with western European commercial networks at a moment when Luxembourg's regional ambitions demanded credibility with Rhenish and Flemish merchants alike.
