Obverse description A mounted knight gallops to the left, brandishing a sword in his raised right hand while bearing a shield decorated with the Luxembourg lion on his left arm. The retrograde legend, reading from near the horse's hindquarters, is disposed unusually with the letter S isolated near the horse's head. The equestrian figure is rendered in the bold, schematic style characteristic of 13th-century feudal coinage. The entire design is enclosed within an outer beaded border.

Reverse description A stylised castle with a crenellated donjon occupies the centre of the field, surmounted by a watchman's head to the right of the turret. A fleur-de-lis is positioned to the left of the tower, and a small cross appears to its right, flanking the central structure symmetrically. The legend, denoting Luxembourg, commences on the left side of the castle and runs around the periphery. The entire design is enclosed within an outer beaded border.
