| Obverse description | Central cross whose arms are cantoned by two pellets (bezants) and an annulet, all enclosed within a beaded inner circle. The duke's name and title appear in a Latin legend distributed around the periphery of the flan. Typical of late Ottonian hammered coinage, the design is rendered in low relief with slightly irregular flan edges. |
