| Descrizione del dritto | Central field displays a stylized ducal or comital monogram enclosed within a beaded inner circle, the whole surrounded by a peripheral Latin legend. The design is characteristic of mid-12th century feudal hammered coinage, executed in a crude but distinctive die-cut style. The legend GAVFRIDVS, referencing Count Geoffrey of Brittany, runs around the outer margin in bold Romanesque lettering. The flan is irregular in shape and shows typical surface porosity consistent with billon alloy of the period. |
