Reverse description A plain cross pattée divides the reverse field into four equal, largely plain quarters. A small ornamental device, likely a fleur or pellet, is visible at the junction of the cross arms. An inner beaded circle surrounds the central cross, with the circumscribed legend in uncial Latin characters reading PRInCPS AQITAnE, proclaiming Edward's title as Prince of Aquitaine. The reverse field shows the characteristic flat, slightly concave surface typical of hammered billon deniers of the Anglo-Gascon series, with a dotted border at the rim.
