| Beschrijving voorzijde | Central field occupied by the interlaced Carolingian royal monogram of Charles II, rendered in the characteristic Karolus cipher with interwoven letters, enclosed within a beaded inner circle. The monogram is boldly struck in high relief against a plain field. A circular legend surrounds the beaded border, reading in retrograde and partially barbarized Latin characters. The overall execution is typical of ninth-century Carolingian hammered coinage, with irregular flan edges and uneven die alignment.
