| Beschrijving keerzijde | Central field features a plain cross pattée extending to a beaded inner circle, dividing the central area into four equal quarters. The cross is bold and well-centred within the inner beaded border, a standard type for Carolingian ecclesiastical mint issues. A circular Latin legend surrounding the beaded border identifies the issuing institution, the monastery of Saint Gaugericus at Cambrai. The lettering is rendered in the upright, slightly irregular capitals typical of ninth-century monastic mint production. The flan is irregularly shaped with a crenellated edge, reflecting hammered manufacture. |
