Reverse description The reverse displays a bold Latin cross with a small crosslet at its summit, centrally positioned and dividing the field. To the left and right of the cross shaft appear the letters S and P respectively, with the letters T, R, and E arranged around the lower portion of the design, collectively forming the mint monogram SPTRE (Sanctus Petrus Treverensis — Saint Peter of Trier). A pellet is visible in the lower left quadrant of the field. The entire composition is enclosed within a beaded border, typical of Carolingian ecclesiastical mint issues, indicating this denier was struck at the Trier mint under the authority of the church of Saint Peter.
