Obverse description The obverse field displays the royal monogram of Carloman I rendered in two lines of bold, raised Latin capital letters within a beaded inner circle. The inscription CAR / LOM occupies the central field in the characteristic Carolingian epigraphic style, with the letters separated by a central pellet. The beaded border frames the legend, conforming to the standard format of early Carolingian deniers. The flan is irregular and slightly uneven, typical of hand-hammered coinage of the period. The overall design reflects the simple, monogram-based obverse type employed during the brief reign of Carloman I.
